Radiation Therapist - Outpatient - PRN

Role Overview: The PRN Staff Radiation Therapist applies ionizing radiation within the Radiation Oncology Department, delivering precise treatments per physician prescriptions. They operate radiation equipment safely, perform complex technical procedures, and assess patient needs across all ages, ensuring quality care and documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

Key Responsibilities

Deliver consistent, accurate radiation therapy following prescribed protocols.
Conduct patient assessments, perform procedures, and provide specialty care considering patient age.
Participate in Quality Control and daily warm-up procedures to maintain equipment tolerances.
Simulate new patients and coordinate patient scheduling, informing patients of any changes.
Educate patients and families about treatment side effects and safety measures.
Ensure safety protocols, including radiation badges and universal precautions.
Assist with patient mobility management and emergency procedures.
Report discrepancies, adverse reactions, and equipment issues promptly.
Participate in on-call rotations and serve as a clinical instructor for students, providing evaluations and feedback.

Qualifications & Skills

Associate’s Degree from an accredited Radiation Therapy program and Radiologic Technology School (JRCERT).
Minimum of 1 year radiation therapy experience.
Certifications: ARRT Radiation Therapy and BLS (or BLS Instructor).
Ability to treat and simulate patients accurately and efficiently.
