Registered Respiratory Therapist - PRN Nights

Role Overview



Provides direct patient respiratory care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, and treatment, within hospital and departmental guidelines. Demonstrates advanced clinical expertise, serving as a resource to the healthcare team, ensuring patient safety through age-appropriate and compliant care. Communicates effectively with team members, documents care, and participates in handoffs. Educates patients, families, and staff on respiratory treatments, utilizing diverse learning methods. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as mechanical ventilation, bronchoscopy, and ECMO support, applying best practices and troubleshooting skills. Maintains continuous learning and time management, contributing to quality improvement initiatives. Holds necessary certifications including Respiratory Care Practitioner and RRT, with preferred qualifications of a Bachelor's degree. Prior clinical experience is not required.



Key Responsibilities





- Collaborates with healthcare team through effective communication and documentation.
- Provides education on respiratory procedures to patients, families, and staff.
- Performs diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures per standards and guidelines.
- Utilizes advanced clinical skills for critical care support, including ECMO and ventilator management.
- Ensures compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.





Qualifications & Skills





- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
- Licenses and certifications: Respiratory Care Practitioner, RRT, BLS.
- Strong communication, teaching, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to perform multiple duties effectively and prioritize tasks.
