The Oncology Charge Nurse (RN) is a leadership role responsible for coordinating, supporting, and supervising nursing staff in an oncology unit. They ensure efficient unit operations, oversee shift transitions, and participate in patient and family education. The role involves collaborating with physicians, staff, and leadership to maintain high standards of care.
Qualified candidates must have a nursing degree from an accredited institution, with at least one year of RN experience. Required licenses include current RN licensure in Texas or a Compact State, along with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Oncology-specific certification (ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy) must be obtained within six months. Preferred skills include proficiency in acute care nursing, excellent communication, computer skills, and professionalism. Additional certifications like ACLS are desirable.
