Role Overview
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides patient-centered care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Nurse Manager, within the LPN scope of practice. Responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, assisting with treatments, coordinating tests and follow-up care, and documenting treatments accurately. The LPN also participates in patient and family education, staff meetings, and continuing education, and may serve as a preceptor for new colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
Assess and manage patient needs following physician orders and nursing process, performing routine procedures and medication administration.
Coordinate care with the healthcare team, communicate patient status changes, and update care plans accordingly.
Educate patients and caregivers, utilizing teach-back methods to ensure understanding.
Accurately document care, adhere to regulatory standards, and handle communication via phone and email.
Participate in staff education, orientation, and ongoing professional development to maintain clinical knowledge.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED; Certificate in Nursing.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification and BLS certification are required.
Preferred experience in healthcare, particularly in oncology or outpatient settings.
Skills: Positive leadership, problem-solving, strong organizational and assessment skills, effective communication, and computer proficiency.
