Role Overview

The Radiation Therapist administers ionizing radiation to patients following physician prescriptions, ensuring safety and precision in treatment delivery. They prepare treatment rooms, communicate procedures to patients, and monitor for adverse reactions or complications, reporting any issues to supervisors and physicians. The therapist maintains detailed treatment records, reviews patient charts, and ensures accurate documentation of blood counts and reports. They also provide clinical supervision and evaluate students' practical abilities.

Qualifications And Skills

• Required certifications include ARRT-Radiation Therapy (ARRT-T) and Therapeutic Radiologic Technology (TRT).
• Preferred education includes a Bachelor's or Master's degree in radiological technology.
• Experience in radiologic technology is advantageous.
• Necessary licenses include a fluoroscopy permit (preferred), CPR/BLS certification, and facility-specific BLS certification.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver prescribed radiation therapy, adhering to safety protocols.
• Prepare treatment areas and assist patients with immobilization and positioning.
• Observe patients during treatment for reactions, reporting concerns promptly.
• Maintain accurate treatment records and review patient charts.
• Supervise and evaluate clinical students as needed.
