Role Overview
A Clinical Pharmacist Specialist is responsible for supporting outpatient clinical services, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to optimize medication therapy, manage disease states, and improve access to specialty medications.
The role involves delivering direct patient care, contributing to program development and quality initiatives, serving as a clinical resource, and fostering the growth of ambulatory pharmacy services within a leading academic medical center.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patient health status and medication profiles to ensure optimal outcomes
- Monitor therapy progress and document activities
- Participate in professional development, research, and quality improvement activities
- Educate and mentor pharmacy staff, residents, and students
- Identify and implement drug cost reduction strategies
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate drug therapies in collaboration with healthcare providers
Qualifications & Skills
- Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD)
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; 2-5 years preferred
- Licensure in Medication Therapy Services in MO and RPh certification
- Strong clinical, collaborative, and communication skills
