Job Title: Scientist III – Protein Separation / HPLC / Protein Characterization / LC-MS / ÄKTA

Location: Worcester, MA (Onsite)





Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Scientist to join an Analytical Development – Advanced Characterization team supporting biologics programs.





Key Responsibilities:


- Perform hands-on HPLC/UPLC chromatography, protein separation, and fractionation using ÄKTA systems.
- Conduct protein characterization studies focused on size and charge variants.
- Perform LC-MS analysis, including intact/reduced protein mass analysis and peptide mapping.
- Support analytical method development, optimization, troubleshooting, and investigations.
- Execute experiments to characterize proteins, including analysis of protein structure and post-translational modifications (PTMs).
- Document experiments and results using electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN).
- Prepare protocols, method development reports, and technical characterization reports.
- Maintain and troubleshoot chromatography and laboratory instrumentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product and process understanding.






Must-Have Skills:


- Strong hands-on experience with HPLC/UPLC/LC chromatography and protein separation.
- Experience with ÄKTA or similar purification systems.
- Experience in biologics/large-molecule protein analysis.
- Hands-on protein characterization and analytical development experience.
- Strong understanding of protein structure, PTMs, and analytical methods.






Preferred Skills:


- LC-MS / mass spectrometry
- CE-SDS, icIEF, or CZE
- Biophysical characterization techniques such as DSC
- Waters or Agilent HPLC systems
- Bioinformatics tools for MS data analysis
- Method development and analytical investigations






Education:


- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or related field with
5+ years of relevant experience.
- Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
- PhD candidates with strong hands-on technical experience may also be considered.
