Key Responsibilities

- Provide intensive respiratory care including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices as physician prescribed
- Perform arterial punctures, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal), oximetry and capnography monitoring, and pulmonary function studies
- Perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes in both emergent and non-emergent situations
- Assist with respiratory-related procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement
- Perform 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, chest physiotherapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
- Document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges accurately in patient records and charts


Required Qualifications

- Active and valid Respiratory Therapist license within the applicable scope of practice
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- Ability to operate and maintain mechanical ventilation equipment with minimal supervision
- Ability to perform endotracheal intubation via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope system


Preferred Experience / Skills

- Experience with moderate complexity laboratory testing protocols including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
- Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage procedures
- Experience with shift-to-shift walking rounds and hands-off communication practices
