RN Pediatric Hematology Oncology

Job Summary:

The SMH Level 2 Registered Nurse Pediatric Hematology-Oncology provides specialized nursing care in a Pediatric Infusion Center setting. This role involves administering chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, blood products, enzyme replacement, and gene therapies to pediatric patients. The nurse will utilize excellent prioritization, communication, and IV skills, including experience with IVADs and Ports, to support complex pediatric infusion and procedural care. Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of the Pediatric Infusion Center is essential.
Responsibilities:
• Administer chemotherapy, monoclonal antibody treatments, blood products, enzyme replacement therapy, and gene therapy to pediatric patients.
• Perform patient assessments and monitor responses to therapies.
• Manage and maintain IV access devices including IVADs and Ports.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans.
• Prioritize patient care activities effectively to meet the demands of a busy infusion center.
• Ensure accurate documentation of treatments and patient progress.
• Adapt to changing clinical needs and patient volumes within the infusion center.
Required Skills & Certifications:
• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• Minimum of two years pediatric nursing experience.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current PEARS certification.
• Current APHON certification.
• Proficient IV skills, including experience with IVADs and Ports.
• Strong communication and prioritization skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
• Experience working in pediatric hematology-oncology or infusion settings.
• Additional pediatric specialty certifications or training.
Special Considerations:
• No weekends, no holidays, and no on-call responsibilities.
• Must be flexible to adjust to changing needs in the Pediatric Infusion Center.
• Work environment involves pediatric specialty infusion and procedural care.
Scheduling:
• Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
• No weekend or holiday shifts.
