Medical Assistant Urology

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant will provide clinical support in a procedural-heavy outpatient clinic specializing in Urology. The role involves obtaining vital signs, preparing patients for exams, assisting with procedures such as cystoscopy and prostate biopsy, specimen collection, and maintaining sterile fields. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to support efficient patient care in a fast-paced environment. This is a temp-to-perm position requiring reliable transportation and flexibility to float between clinic locations.
Responsibilities:
• Obtain and record vital signs from patients.
• Prepare patients for exams by recording history, medications, and allergies.
• Set up and assist with urology procedures including cystoscopy, prostate biopsy, and bladder scans.
• Maintain sterile fields during procedures.
• Collect, label, and handle specimens appropriately.
• Room patients and assist with patient flow throughout the clinic visit.
• Float to alternate clinic location as required.
Required Skills & Certifications:
• Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) preferred; Medical Assistant-Registered (MA-R) considered with relevant procedural clinic experience.
• Minimum 6 months experience as an MA-C in adult/pediatric outpatient settings, preferably in procedural-heavy clinics like Urology, Otolaryngology, or Dermatology.
• Ability to obtain vital signs and assist with specialized procedures.
• Experience with sterile technique and specimen collection.
• Reliable personal transportation (public transportation not accepted).
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system.
• Familiarity with urology-specific equipment such as Trophon, Ultrasound Biopsy machine, and Bladder Scanner.
Special Considerations:
• Position requires floating to an alternate clinic location on Mondays.
• Must have reliable personal transportation; public transportation is not acceptable.
• Weekend and on-call work are not required.
• Temp-to-perm employment with expectation of permanent hire if performance is satisfactory.
• Local and non-local candidates within Washington state are eligible.
Scheduling:
• Work schedule consists of four 9-hour days and one 4-hour day, Monday through Friday, with weekends off.
• Typical hours are 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM for four days and 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM for one day, alternating based on physician operating room schedule.
