Oncology Scheduler

The Lay Navigator supports oncology patients throughout the referral, scheduling, and pre-registration process. This individual serves as a primary point of contact for patients, providers, and internal teams while coordinating complex oncology services such as infusions, radiation treatments, surgeries, and specialty procedures. Responsibilities include managing referral work queues, insurance verification, scheduling appointments, collecting patient information, and ensuring a seamless patient experience from referral through treatment. Experience working in a fast-paced healthcare environment and providing exceptional customer service is critical.





Must-Haves


- High school diploma or GED
- 3+ years of customer-facing healthcare experience
- At least 1 year of patient scheduling and/or patient registration experience
- Experience working with referrals, work queues, or care coordination workflows
- Insurance verification and benefits validation experience
- Strong patient-facing communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume healthcare setting
- Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office applications

- Epic scheduling experience
- Experience supporting infusion, radiation oncology, surgery, or other specialty scheduling functions
- Prior authorization experience
- Experience creating patient estimates and discussing financial responsibility
- Centralized scheduling or patient access center experience
- Knowledge of oncology referral and authorization workflows
