Job Description
Role Overview
The Medical Assistant supports physicians by managing patient flow, performing diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and vitals. They act as a liaison to ensure patient satisfaction and assist with examinations and clinical procedures within their scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities
• Escort patients, verify identification, and document vital signs and medical history.
• Assist physicians during examinations and diagnostic tests, including EKGs and venipuncture.
• Maintain clinical supplies, order inventory, and ensure smooth daily operations.
• Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security protocols.
• Proficiently use and document within healthcare IT systems.
• Communicate effectively with staff and patients, demonstrating organizational skills.
Qualifications & Skills
• High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant Certification required within six months.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days.
• Preferred experience in healthcare settings and knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Physical & Other Demands
Ability to lift 25 lbs, sit/stand frequently, and perform activities like kneeling, bending, and CPR as needed.
