Job Description
Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in the Chesapeake, VA area. Qualifications & Desired Experience:
• Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Active COTA licensure in Virginia (or eligibility to obtain)
• Previous experience in a school setting strongly preferred
• Familiarity with IEP processes and adapting activities for diverse student needs
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively on interdisciplinary teams
Primary Responsibilities:
• Implement occupational therapy interventions in accordance with student IEP goals, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist
• Support students’ development of fine motor, sensory, and self-help skills to maximize participation in academic and daily life tasks
• Contribute to evaluations and assist with documenting student progress
• Collaborate regularly with teachers, therapists, families, and support staff
• Promote a positive, inclusive, and culturally sensitive learning environment
• Manage scheduling and caseload documentation efficiently
