Job Description
We are seeking a Special Procedures Nurse to join an Oncology Rapid Assessment Clinic at an academic medical center. This onsite role involves providing high-risk nursing care under physician supervision, including sedation, intravenous infusions, and complex procedures.
Key responsibilities include delivering compassionate patient care, accurately documenting assessments, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety. The nurse may assume Charge Nurse duties, assist in patient transfers, and participate in quality assurance activities. They will evaluate and treat patient conditions, including pain and anxiety, and support critically ill patients during procedures.
Qualifications include a current Illinois RN license, an Associate Degree in Nursing (a BSN is preferred), and certifications such as CPR, ACLS, and PALS. Preferred candidates have 3+ years of chemotherapy experience and ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy certification.
Position details: Part-time (0.6 FTE), night shifts with every other weekend and holiday rotations, in the Oncology Rapid Assessment Clinic. The role emphasizes professionalism, safety, teamwork, and commitment to exceptional patient care.
