Job Description
An established, privately held financial-services and advisory organization is seeking a Senior Director / Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions to guide business owners through complex practice-transition and sale decisions.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Business Development, this executive will manage client engagements from initial discovery and evaluation through buyer marketing, negotiations, transaction closing, and post-close relationship management.
This is not an internal corporate-development role. It is a highly consultative, client-facing position requiring the ability to earn the trust of successful business owners, evaluate their personal and financial objectives, develop transaction models, and identify the buyer or strategic partner offering the strongest long-term fit.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Build trusted relationships with business-owner clients and prospective buyers
• Lead clients through a proprietary transaction advisory process, from discovery through closing and post-transaction support
• Assess each client’s financial, professional, and personal objectives
• Prepare and present financial models, valuation scenarios, and cash-flow projections
• Develop marketing strategies and materials for client opportunities
• Evaluate buyer fit based on economics, culture, operating philosophy, and long-term objectives
• Facilitate meetings between clients and prospective buyers
• Lead negotiations from initial offer and letter of intent through diligence and closing
• Maintain a detailed understanding of the buyer market, acquisition criteria, transaction structures, and industry trends
• Develop and maintain transaction data covering offers, LOIs, quality-of-earnings reviews, and completed transactions
• Cultivate long-term relationships with strategic buyers and successfully transitioned clients
• Contribute to educational content, client programming, conferences, and industry events
• Coordinate closely with internal financial, tax, legal, and advisory professionals throughout each engagement
IDEAL EXPERIENCE
• At least five years of relevant experience in M&A advisory, investment banking, transaction advisory, practice transitions, healthcare services, dental services, or a related financial field
• Demonstrated experience advising business owners through high-stakes financial or transaction decisions
• Strong financial-modeling and cash-flow-analysis capabilities
• Experience negotiating transactions and managing multiple parties through diligence and closing
• Existing knowledge of the dental, healthcare, or healthcare-services buyer market is strongly preferred
• Familiarity with dental support organizations, private equity-backed healthcare platforms, or professional-practice transactions is highly valuable
• Ability to evaluate both financial terms and long-term cultural or operational fit
• Excellent executive communication, presentation, relationship-building, and negotiation skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage several engagements simultaneously
• Proficiency with Excel, Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and transaction-tracking tools
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related discipline preferred
LEADERSHIP PROFILE
The successful candidate will be:
• A trusted advisor who can build credibility with sophisticated business owners
• Financially analytical while remaining highly relational
• Comfortable discussing sensitive personal, professional, and financial matters
• Commercially minded without being overly transactional
• Organized, responsive, and accountable throughout lengthy transaction cycles
• Skilled at balancing client advocacy with realistic market guidance
• Self-directed and comfortable operating in a high-touch, fast-moving environment
