Registered Nurse Infusion

Job Summary:
The Infusion Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients receiving intravenous and injectable therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologic agents, blood products, and other medications. The role involves monitoring patient responses, ensuring safe medication administration, and offering education and emotional support throughout treatment.

Responsibilities:

•
Assess patient condition before, during, and after treatments to ensure safety and effectiveness.

•
Review medical history, laboratory results, and treatment orders to prepare for procedures.

•
Monitor vital signs and patient responses throughout infusion sessions.

•
Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other IV and injectable medications according to protocols.

•
Access and manage vascular devices such as ports, PICC lines, and central lines.

•
Educate patients and families on treatment plans, potential side effects, and symptom management.

Qualifications:

•
Hold an active Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license; Compact Licensure accepted with a 90-day compliance period.

•
Possess an Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing; BSN preferred.

•
Maintain BLS certification, obtained within 1 month of hire.

•
Obtain ACLS certification within 1 year of employment.

•
Possess or obtain within 6 months the ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Provider Card.

•
Demonstrate knowledge of IV therapy, vascular access, chemotherapy safety, and patient education.
