A confidential plaintiff-side employment litigation practice in Houston is seeking a mid-to-senior level litigator (approximately 5 to 10 years of experience) to join a busy wage and hour docket, including class and collective actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act and related state-law claims. This is a full-cycle litigation role for an attorney who enjoys owning matters from discovery through resolution, with regular advocacy opportunities and close collaboration with experienced litigators.

THE ROLE






- Manage wage and hour matters from early case development through resolution.
- Develop and execute litigation strategy, case plans, and key deadlines.
- Draft and argue motions, including dispositive motions and settlement-related briefing.
- Lead discovery efforts, including written discovery, document review coordination, and meet-and-confer work.
- Take and defend depositions, including witness preparation and deposition strategy.
- Appear for hearings and oral argument as needed.
- Support mediations and settlement negotiations, including preparation of statements and negotiation strategy.
- Assist with trial or arbitration preparation and presentation support.






LOCATION, SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION





Location:

Houston, Texas





Schedule:

Primarily in-office (4 days per week); willingness to average approximately 50 hours per week.





Compensation:

Base salary range: $150,000 to $200,000





REQUIREMENTS






- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
- Active Texas bar admission in good standing.
- Approximately 5 to 10 years of significant litigation experience (plaintiff-side experience is helpful for faster ramp-up).
- Experience prosecuting or defending class actions or collective actions (or closely related complex litigation).
- Hands-on experience with depositions and in-court advocacy, including hearings and oral argument; comfort with direct and cross-examination.
- Strong motion practice and legal writing skills, with comfort managing matters beyond a briefing-only role.
- Ability to manage an active docket with a high degree of independence and minimal training required.
- Demonstrated stability and progression in prior roles (preference for longer tenures rather than frequent moves).






PREFERRED BACKGROUND






- Plaintiff-side wage and hour or employment litigation experience, including Fair Labor Standards Act theories (misclassification, off-the-clock, overtime).
- Ability to develop strategy and execute briefing end-to-end.
- Trial or arbitration presentation experience, including evidentiary arguments and hearing-level advocacy.
- Familiarity with time-tracking software.
- Interest in mentoring or supporting the development of junior attorneys and staff.






COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS






- Performance bonus potential up to $300,000.
- Target of approximately 2,100 recorded hours annually.
