Job Description
Role Summary: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides patient-centered care under RN supervision, focusing on physical, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational needs.
Responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, assisting with treatments, coordinating tests and follow-up care, and documenting treatments accurately. The LPN also educates patients and families, collaborates with healthcare team members, and participates in staff meetings, training, and continuing education. They may serve as a preceptor for new staff and float between multiple sites as needed.
Key Duties
• Assess and manage patient needs following physician orders using the nursing process
• Perform routine nursing procedures, including medication administration and port access
• Coordinate care with RN and team members, updating on patient condition changes
• Educate patients and caregivers to promote self-care and understanding
• Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to regulatory guidelines
• Participate in staff education, orientation, and ongoing professional development
Qualifications & Skills:
• High School Diploma or GED, with LPN licensure and BLS certification required
• Preferred healthcare experience, especially in oncology or outpatient settings
• Strong assessment, clinical, organizational, and communication skills
• Proficient in computer use and possess reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
• Problem-solving abilities, leadership qualities, and scheduling flexibility
Additional Requirements: Ability to work collaboratively, stay current with clinical knowledge, and comply with organizational policies.
