Role Overview
The Head Nurse oversees patient care, staff management, and daily operations within a specific nursing department or unit. They provide clinical leadership, ensuring safe, quality care that respects patient autonomy, dignity, and rights. The role involves coordinating care using the nursing process, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and guiding staff during critical situations.
Key Responsibilities
• Interpret and integrate diagnostic data relevant to patient conditions.
• Collaborate with leadership to identify improvement opportunities and implement change.
• Guide staff during life-threatening events and evaluate intervention effectiveness.
• Drive innovative processes to enhance patient outcomes.
• Participate in clinical leadership activities such as coaching, mentoring, staffing, and performance evaluations.
• Contribute to healthcare delivery improvement initiatives and support lifelong learning.
• Communicate effectively with team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a related unit or specialty setting.
• Computer literacy.
• RN licensure and BLS certification within 14 days of hire.
• Preferred: ACLS certification.
