Certified Nursing Assistant - Medical Oncology

Join our dedicated team at Intermountain Health as a Patient Care Technician/CNA in the Medical Oncology unit. In this critical role, you will provide essential support to RNs and healthcare providers by delivering compassionate, direct patient care. You will participate in monitoring vital signs, assisting with hygiene and mobility, and ensuring patients receive the highest quality of care.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Delivering direct bedside care such as vital sign checks, hygiene assistance, and mobility support.
• Collaborating with nurses and providers on clinical procedures and monitoring patient conditions.
• Responding efficiently to patient call lights to enhance comfort and safety.
• Accurately documenting care and observations in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Supporting the process of admissions, transfers, and discharges in the medical oncology unit.
• Collecting specimens while adhering to infection prevention protocols.
• Maintaining clean and organized patient rooms and equipment.
• Promptly communicating any changes in patient status to the RN and care team.
• Offering emotional support to oncology patients and their families with compassion.
• Engaging in team huddles and initiatives for quality and safety improvement.

Required Skills:
• Measurement of patient vital signs.
• Assistance with basic patient hygiene and mobility.
• Proficient documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Knowledge of infection control and isolation practices.
• Experience with specimen collection and labeling.
• Safe patient handling and transfer techniques.
• Basic life support (BLS) certification.
• Understanding of oncology patient needs.
• Strong observation skills and reporting of clinical changes.
• Effective time management in acute care settings.
