Ultrasound Tech I

Schedule: Variable days; evening shift, 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM. Rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage required.



Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Ultrasound Technician I primary function is to perform Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound procedures in accordance with established Radiology Department standards and under the supervision of the Radiologist. The Sonographer must demonstrate knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and pathology, accurately distinguish normal from abnormal findings, and obtain and record the most appropriate diagnostic images to support accurate interpretation. Responsibilities include performing ultrasound examinations, documenting and communicating findings within the RIS system for review by the Resident and/or Radiologist, and maintaining high standards of patient care. The Sonographer must be able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members. Medical Sonographer I is designated for sonographers who hold two or fewer specialty certifications through ARDMS.



Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience Required





- Ability to perform diagnostic Medical Sonographic examinations.





Preferred





- One year Ultrasound experience preferred.
- Pediatric experience of at least 2 years is preferred but not required.





Education/Licensure/Certifications Required





- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Ultrasound
- ARDMS or eligible for ARDMS license
- CPR from the American Heart Association
- Certified in 1- 2 specialties
