Role Description This full-time on-site Trauma Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) role is based in Clinton Township, MI. The Trauma APP collaborates with trauma surgeons, nursing teams, and multidisciplinary staff to provide comprehensive care for trauma patients across the continuum, including initial assessment, stabilization, ongoing management, and discharge planning. Daily responsibilities include performing histories and physicals, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, developing and implementing evidence-based treatment plans, and participating in bedside procedures within scope of practice. The role involves coordinating patient care across inpatient units, step-down, and ICU settings, rounding on trauma patients, documenting in the electronic health record, and communicating clearly with patients, families, and the care team. The Trauma APP also supports quality improvement initiatives, adherence to trauma protocols, and education of staff, learners, and patients to promote optimal outcomes and a safe care environment.
Qualifications
• Current licensure and certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in Michigan, with eligibility for hospital credentialing and privileging.
• Demonstrated experience or strong clinical training in trauma, acute care surgery, emergency medicine, or critical care settings.
• Proficiency in patient assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and development of evidence-based care plans for high-acuity patients.
• Ability to perform procedures within scope of practice (e.g., wound management, basic bedside interventions) and collaborate on more advanced interventions as part of the trauma team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, patients, and families.
• Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and adherence to trauma protocols, guidelines, and regulatory standards.
