Sr. Medical Science Liaison

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will provide direct field-based support for the Rare Disease portfolio, serving as a key member of the Medical Affairs team responsible for executing the company's medical and scientific strategy at a regional level. This role will partner cross-functionally and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent and compliant execution of medical strategy, foster high-quality scientific exchange with healthcare professionals, and support the continued growth and development of the field medical organization by defining, standardizing, and implementing best practices. This individual will be the scientific bridge between the company and healthcare ecosystem by providing field insights with internal strategy, with particular emphasis on developing and translating deep brand expertise to inform medical planning, strategic positioning, and cross-functional initiatives within Rare Disease. The Senior Medical Science Liaison will report to the U.S. Medical Lead and collaborate closely with both U.S. and Global Medical teams to ensure alignment and impact across the organization.





Responsibilities:


- Serve as a field-based scientific leader and subject matter expert for the Rare Disease portfolio, demonstrating deep therapeutic and product expertise
- Establish and cultivate credible, peer-to-peer scientific partnerships with key opinion leaders, investigators, and healthcare professionals
- Deliver accurate, balanced, and compliant scientific exchange, including responses to unsolicited requests for medical information
- Lead high-quality scientific dialogue across disease state education, clinical data interpretation, evolving treatment landscapes, and research initiatives
- Synthesize and communicate actionable field insights, emerging trends, and stakeholder feedback to inform medical strategy and cross-functional decision-making
- Support key medical affairs initiatives, including congress activities, advisory boards, investigator meetings, and other scientific programs
- Work with the U.S. Medical Lead to define and operationalize field medical objectives, priorities, and execution plans aligned with broader Medical Affairs and organizational goals
- Serve as a trusted advisor and escalation point, providing guidance on complex scientific, operational, and stakeholder-related matters
- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with Esteve policies, regulatory requirements, and industry guidelines, reinforcing a culture of compliance and accountability
- Identify and implement opportunities to enhance field medical effectiveness, operational excellence, and organizational capabilities
- Identify and advance opportunities for scientific engagement, research collaboration, and evidence generation aligned with strategic priorities
- Responsible for completing the above duties and responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner
- Responsible for completing the above duties and responsibilities in accordance with the internal controls that make up the internal control framework for all the ESTEVE business operational, administrative or regulatory processes.
- Responsible for becoming knowledgeable of the internal controls operating within this department and to comply with these control activities by (1) being aware of the key controls, risks and compensating controls in this business area and (2) by identifying and reporting changes in the operating and internal control environment to their supervisor.






Requirements:






- Must have a Bachelor’s degree.
- Must have an advanced scientific or clinical degree (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent) is required.
- Must have 5+ years of experience in pharmaceuticals, biotech, and/or medical device
- Must have 3+ years of Medical Affairs experience
- Must have 1+ years of experience contributing to medical strategy, evidence generation, and cross-functional initiatives
- Must have experience working effectively in a highly cross-functional, matrixed environment
- Must have a strong understanding of Medical Affairs compliance, FDA regulations, and industry guidelines, with a demonstrated commitment to ethical scientific exchange
- Demonstrated scientific leadership and credibility, with strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills across diverse stakeholders
- Proven ability to build and sustain high-value scientific relationships with healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders, and external partners
- Must be able to travel up to 75% of the time or as required by business needs, with residence near a major metropolitan area and/or airport preferred
- Experience in rare disease, oncology, endocrinology, or other specialty therapeutic areas is highly preferred
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment, with a high degree of adaptability and strategic agility
