Job Description
Senior Medical Director, Clinical Development
Location: Remote
Therapeutic Area: Dermatology
Salary: Base in the $320-350k range plus bonus plus equity
Scientific Search has partnered with an innovative biotechnology company that is searching for a Senior Medical Director, Clinical Development - Dermatology. This individual will serve as a strategic clinical leader responsible for shaping clinical development strategy across multiple programs and influencing broader portfolio and development decisions.
The ideal candidate will bring significant clinical research and drug development experience, a strong track record leading development programs through major clinical milestones, and experience with global regulatory interactions and registration planning.
This is an opportunity for an experienced clinical development physician to have significant visibility and impact within a growing biotechnology organization, working closely with executive leadership while helping guide clinical strategy, portfolio priorities, and the advancement of multiple development programs.
Responsibilities
• Lead clinical development strategy across multiple development programs.
• Drive portfolio prioritization and clinical investment decisions.
• Ensure alignment between scientific, clinical, regulatory, and business objectives.
• Identify opportunities to maximize asset value and accelerate development.
• Provide senior-level oversight of clinical trial design and execution.
• Lead interpretation of major clinical data readouts and subsequent development decisions.
• Direct benefit-risk evaluations and registration planning.
• Guide biomarker, translational medicine, and precision medicine strategies.
• Lead interactions with global regulatory authorities.
• Drive registration strategies and health authority engagement plans.
• Support preparation for major regulatory submissions and milestones.
• Provide strategic guidance on evolving regulatory requirements.
• Mentor and develop clinical development physicians and scientists.
• Build scalable clinical development capabilities and establish best practices, governance processes, and operating standards.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership.
• Develop strategic relationships with leading investigators, academic centers, and global KOLs.
• Represent the organization in investor meetings, partnership discussions, scientific congresses, and due diligence activities.
• Support fundraising, licensing, and corporate development initiatives.
Requirements
• MD, DO, MBBS, or equivalent medical degree required.
• Specialty board certification or advanced clinical training preferred.
• 10+ years of clinical research and drug development experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience.
• Demonstrated success leading development programs through major clinical milestones.
• Experience with global regulatory interactions and registration planning.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary development teams.
• Deep expertise in clinical development and drug development strategy.
• Outstanding clinical data interpretation skills.
• Proven ability to influence organizational and portfolio-level decisions.
• Strong leadership and talent development capabilities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to effectively represent an organization with regulators, investors, partners, investigators, and KOLs.
• Strong business acumen and understanding of value creation within biotechnology.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a resource-constrained biotechnology environment.
