Job Description
ChristianaCare seeks a Radiation Therapist III to deliver safe, precise radiation treatments for oncology patients. In this advanced role, you will interpret treatment plans, perform accurate patient positioning, operate linear accelerators and related imaging systems, and verify treatment parameters. You will collaborate closely with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and nurses, monitoring patient responses and maintaining detailed records. The role includes mentoring junior therapists, supporting quality assurance, and contributing to process improvement while exemplifying ChristianaCare's culture of compassion, excellence, and innovation.
Responsibilities
• Deliver accurate radiation therapy treatments according to physician prescriptions and treatment plans
• Set up and position patients using immobilization devices and imaging guidance to ensure reproducibility
• Operate linear accelerators, CT simulators, and related radiation therapy equipment safely
• Verify treatment parameters and perform time-out and safety checks before each treatment
• Monitor patients during and after treatment, documenting responses and reporting concerns to the care team
• Maintain precise treatment records and ensure compliance with regulatory and departmental standards
• Assist with quality assurance procedures and equipment checks as directed by physics and leadership
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, nurses, and other team members to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families about treatment procedures, side effects, and safety instructions
• Mentor and support junior radiation therapists and students in best practices and workflow
