School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT)

Position Overview
Sunbelt Staffing is seeking an Occupational Therapist to support students in a Sacramento-area school district. This contract opportunity is designed for a therapist who enjoys working with children and developing practical strategies that help students participate more successfully in their educational environment. The OT will collaborate with teachers, families, and other school-based professionals to address individual student needs and support progress toward educational goals.

What You'll Do

•
Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and assess students' functional needs

•
Develop individualized therapy plans that align with student goals and IEPs

•
Provide direct occupational therapy services in appropriate school settings

•
Address fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, and functional skills

•
Consult with teachers regarding classroom accommodations and therapeutic strategies

•
Recommend adaptive equipment or environmental modifications when appropriate

•
Monitor student progress and adjust interventions based on performance data

•
Complete evaluations, progress reports, service documentation, and other required records

•
Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Skills & Qualifications

•
Strong knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy practices

•
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

•
Ability to develop practical, student-centered interventions

•
Effective organization and time-management abilities

•
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a school team

•
Flexible approach to supporting students with varying developmental needs

Required Credentials

•
Valid California Occupational Therapist license

•
NBCOT certification

•
Appropriate California school-based credential or eligibility, as applicable

•
Ability to satisfy district onboarding and background requirements

Education

•
Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program

•
Completion of applicable clinical education and professional credentialing requirements

Experience

•
Pediatric occupational therapy experience preferred

•
Previous school-based experience is a plus but not required

•
Familiarity with IEPs, accommodations, and special education services is beneficial

•
