Role Overview:

The Research Associate is responsible for hands-on processing of clinical and biobank specimens through the full laboratory workflow, from sample receipt through sequencing-ready libraries. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced research environment and brings exceptional attention to detail, consistency, and care to every sample processed.

Key Responsibilities:
• Biobank and process urine, plasma, and tissue specimens
• Perform molecular biology workflow end-to-end including cell free nucleic acid extraction and NGS library preparation
• Perform and analyze quantification and quality control (Qubit, Fragment Analyzer / TapeStation, RT-qPCR)
• Maintain accurate sample and aliquot tracking through the workflow in accordance with naming conventions and chain-of-custody SOPs
• Document results in the electronic laboratory notebook and prepare run-level summaries
• Support research projects with external collaborators, including preparation of study summaries
• Contribute to assay development, optimization, and process improvement as the platform scales

Qualifications:
• BS or MS in molecular biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, genetics, or a related field
• Prior hands-on wet laboratory experience
• Proficiency in core molecular biology technique, including accurate pipetting, PCR/qPCR, nucleic acid extraction, and gel or capillary electrophoresis
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with demonstrated care in maintaining sample identity
• Ability to closely follow laboratory SOPs and appropriate laboratory safety protocols
• Proficiency with managing tabular data, for example in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and pivot tables
• Clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to work independently following training

Nice to Have:
• NGS library preparation experience
• Experience with column-based purification methods, PCR/qPCR, and/or nucleic acid extraction
• Familiarity with LIMS or other structured sample tracking systems
• Experience working under SOPs, in a regulated environment, or within a quality management system
• Basic data analysis skills
