Job Description
Role Overview: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides evidence-based inpatient oncology care, including assessments, care planning, symptom management, and administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive therapies.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver direct patient care, ensuring safety and adherence to clinical protocols.
Manage central venous access devices, blood products, and infusion therapies.
Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment, side effects, and discharge planning.
Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records and support quality improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, participate in safety activities, and support clinical research.
Mentor support staff and potentially serve as charge nurse or preceptor.
Qualifications & Skills: Requires an RN license, with a BSN preferred; oncology experience and EMR proficiency are advantageous. Must be skilled in chemotherapy administration, central line care, emergency response, patient education, and infection control. Strong teamwork, clinical judgment, and adaptability are essential.
Additional Requirements: Certification in chemotherapy/immunotherapy within 6 months, BLS certification, and adherence to safety protocols involving hazardous drugs. Experience with EMR systems and caring for diverse populations is preferred. No supervisory responsibilities, with direct contact with adult oncology patients in a fast-paced environment.
