Registered Nurse (RN), Inpatient Oncology

Position Overview: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides evidence-based inpatient oncology care, including comprehensive assessments, individualized care planning, and symptom management. They administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive therapies following protocols, manage central venous access devices, and ensure patient safety through proper documentation and adherence to infection prevention standards.

Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, educate patients and families about diagnosis and treatment, support clinical research, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. May serve as charge nurse or preceptor, providing guidance to support staff. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies.

Qualifications & Skills: Proficiency in oncology medication administration, line care, emergency response, patient education, and EMR documentation. Knowledge of infection control, hazardous drug handling, and prioritization in fast-paced settings. Strong communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and professionalism required.

Requirements: Current unrestricted RN license in Massachusetts, ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy certification (or obtained within 6 months), BLS certification, and preferred oncology experience. BSN strongly preferred; Associate degree candidates must complete within 4 years. No supervisory duties. Direct patient contact in inpatient oncology setting.

Work Conditions: Exposure to hazardous drugs and biohazards, with adherence to PPE protocols. May include rotating shifts and extended hours.
