Radiation Therapist

Role Overview: The Radiation Therapist administers ionizing radiation for therapeutic purposes, following the Radiation Oncologist’s prescription. Key responsibilities include patient simulation, treatment planning, equipment assessment, and basic patient care and education.

Responsibilities

Interpret and implement treatment plans, document procedures, and perform simulation processes.
Prepare immobilization devices, obtain measurements, and assist with dosimetry.
Perform daily equipment checks, warm-up, and quality assurance.
Support clinical training of student therapists.
Communicate effectively with patients and clinical staff.
Provide patient care during treatment, monitor progress, and assist with patient education.
Manage scheduling, treatment delivery, and billing documentation.

Qualifications & Skills

Radiology Tech License (if applicable) and ARRT Radiation Therapy certification.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy from an accredited institution.
Strong clinical, communication, decision-making, and empathetic skills.
Manual dexterity, physical ability to assist with patient transfers, and ability to operate complex equipment.
Ability to interact with patients and team members effectively, often in busy or emergency settings.
