What You'll Be Doing:
As a key member of the Utilization Management team, the Radiation Oncology Medical Director will play a crucial role in improving patient outcomes in a non-clinical environment, balancing meaningful work with personal life. Collaborate with a dedicated team that values innovation and continuous learning.
Collaboration Opportunities:
• Engage regularly with leadership, management staff, and fellow physicians when physician input is required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Act as the Physician match reviewer for Radiation Oncology and imaging cases that do not meet medical necessity guidelines, as well as other imaging requests that require specialty reviews.
• Communicate determinations with requesting physicians or ordering providers, providing clinical rationale for standard and expedited appeals.
• Utilize medical/clinical review guidelines to ensure consistency in the review process, aligning with policies and procedures as well as URAC and NCQA guidelines.
• Support Initial Clinical Reviewers with resources and guidance.
• Document all communications with medical office staff or providers accurately and promptly.
• Assist the Senior Medical Director with research activities related to Utilization Management processes and guidelines.
• Participate in ongoing training to ensure quality and effectiveness in the review process.
Qualifications:
• MD/DO/MBBS.
• A minimum of five (5) years of medical practice experience post-residency, with active clinical practice within the last two years preferred.
• Current, unrestricted clinical license in medicine or required specialty.
• Active Board Certification in Radiation Oncology.
• Strong clinical, management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Energetic, curious, and passionate about delivering quality and value in healthcare.
• Proficient in computer use.
• No current exclusions or sanctions by any state or federal healthcare programs.
• No history of major disciplinary or legal actions by a state medical board.
