Job Description

Role Overview: Responsible for planning and delivering patient care utilizing nursing processes such as assessment, implementation, and evaluation. Oversees care plans, applies evidence-based practices, and ensures adherence to quality standards in a Magnet-designated hospital. Provides compassionate, family-centered Hematology/Oncology nursing care under supervision of nursing leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Completes patient admissions, discharge planning, and documentation in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
• Administers chemotherapy, medications, and monitors immuno-compromised patients, including central lines and lab results.
• Performs interventions like electrolyte infusions, transfusions, and sepsis monitoring.
• Engages in care planning rounds, promotes safety, and utilizes electronic health records efficiently.
• Communicates effectively with patients and families, educating on diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Ensures safe medication, wound, and pain management per hospital policies.
• Maintains compliance with regulatory standards and participates in governance and unit activities.
• Adheres to PPE protocols and proper waste disposal procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Active RN licensure (Florida or Multi-State eNLC) and current BLS/CPR certification; PALS and Pediatric Chemotherapy certification preferred.
• Preferred BSN degree or enrollment; minimum one year pediatric Hematology/Oncology experience.
• Proficiency in EMR and strong communication skills.
• Career certification such as CPON or BMTCN is desirable within 5 years.
• Ability to interpret data, work collaboratively, and apply evidence-based practice in patient care.
• Flexibility to float across units and participate in on-call duties.
