Position Details:
• Primary Location: 5 Neponset Street, Worcester, MA, 01606
• Secondary Location: 24 Newton Street, Southborough, Massachusetts, 01772 (travel as needed for coverage)
• Department: Infusion/ Hematology/ Oncology Specialties
• Schedule: Full time, 32 hours/week, Monday through Friday, scheduling between 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

In this role, you will play a key part in delivering and managing direct patient care. You will oversee the treatment for patients with both Hematologic and Oncologic conditions in the outpatient setting, working collaboratively with providers and other team members. You will be crucial in identifying changes in patient conditions, symptoms, and diagnostic results, responding with appropriate interventions.

This position entails providing a comprehensive range of medical support services while ensuring the highest standards of patient care and satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Clinical:
• Deliver the highest quality of direct patient care, assess outcomes, and collaborate with specialists as necessary to optimize patient experiences.
• Apply an understanding of oncology patient care, chemotherapy/biotherapy principles, medication classifications, and safe handling procedures.
• Conduct thorough assessments and reassessments as required, considering psychosocial, emotional, and educational needs.
• Manage pain effectively and educate patients and caregivers on appropriate pain management techniques.
• Utilize evidence-based clinical knowledge to prioritize care plans as patient assessments evolve.
• Exhibit a strong understanding of antineoplastic therapies, including their psychological and adverse effects.
• Ensure safe medication administration and demonstrate the ability to calculate dosages based on patient metrics.
• Exhibit proficiency in IV therapy and venous access, including the care of central lines.
• Follow regulations to ensure safe handling and disposal of antineoplastic agents, providing post-therapy education to patients.
• Perform essential diagnostic and therapeutic procedures competently.
• Identify emergency situations and enact the required nursing interventions promptly.
• Assess and adapt teaching methods according to patient and family learning needs while documenting educational experiences effectively.
• Exhibit competency in telephone triage, efficiently assessing patient needs to determine appropriate interventions.
• Coordinate discharge plans for patients, ensuring effective communication of the treatment plan and coordinating with community resources.
• Quality and Safety:
• Uphold safety and quality control measures regarding medication administration and infection prevention.
• Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
• Comply with health and safety guidelines as well as regulatory agency requirements.
• Utilize patient care equipment safely and effectively.
• Document all facets of patient care in the Electronic Medical Record accurately to ensure proper service reimbursement.

Required Qualifications:
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current RN license in the State of Massachusetts.
• Current CPR/BLS Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
• ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Administration Certificate (or the ability to obtain in a specified timeframe).
• Experience with phone triage.
• Familiarity with EMR systems (EPIC).

Compensation is determined by various factors, including local labor markets, education, experience, and certifications. In addition to your salary, you will have access to a comprehensive benefits package, incentives, equity stock purchase options, and 401k contributions (all benefits are subject to eligibility). Pay for this role will range from $29.00 to $52.00 per hour based on full-time employment.
