Nurse Practitioner - Palliative Care

Responsibilities

• Establishes goals and objectives for their area in congruence with the assigned department's goals and objectives on an annual basis

• Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of clients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies

• Works in collaboration with a physician in formulating treatment plans for health problems and follow-up

• Writes prescriptions for medication, blood products based upon laboratory results, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, and post-discharge care in accordance with written practice protocols

• Relays appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician

• Interacts with leadership team as well as support staff to ensure provision of optimal patient care

• Educates patients and families about the disease process and treatment

• Applies leadership skills as clinical role model, leading clinical skill development, fostering critical thinking skills, promoting safe practice and acting as a liaison/consult as needed

Compensation

• Hiring Range: $110,000-$130,000 with certification

• The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law

Requirements

• MSN degree required

• Licensed as Nurse Practitioner in the State of New York prior to start date and/or transfer date

• Specialized training and certification through Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) required

• Ability to organize and establish day-to-day priorities while utilizing critical thinking skills in all aspects of the job

• Must be able to multitask while remaining professional, focused, composed and positive

• Excellent customer service skills and must display integrity, friendliness, and compassion

• Must be able to establish an appropriate and effective rapport with others

• Must be flexible to take initiative and embrace new opportunities to grow both personally and organizationally

• Problem solving skills
