Job Description:

The Medical Oncology Patient Care Technician plays a vital role in supporting the patient care team by performing various clinical and support tasks as directed by licensed healthcare professionals. This position also may include responsibilities typically assigned to a Health Unit Coordinator.
• Must possess a valid Montana CNA license and a BLS Certification upon hire.*

Essential Functions
• Deliver compassionate basic patient care, including toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, ensuring fresh water and ice, assisting with ambulation, and providing comfort measures while prioritizing customer service for both patients and families.
• Timely report and document patient care findings, changes in patient conditions, and promptly seek appropriate assistance when needed.
• May monitor patients as a telemetry tech and work collaboratively with the patient care team to address patient needs and ensure quality care.
• Transport medications from the delivery system to the RN as required on clinical units.
• Engage with RNs and other interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient care.
• Perform health unit coordinator duties such as answering phones, transcribing physician orders, managing unit records, and maintaining supplies.
• Implement care plans as delegated and ensure tasks are performed within your scope of practice, adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
• Ensure a safe environment by following safety policies and acting appropriately during emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications
• Current Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) in Montana.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
• Basic computer literacy skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
• Previous CNA experience or relevant healthcare background.

Physical Requirements
• Required to see and read information accurately, assess patient needs, operate medical equipment, and identify supplies.
• Frequent verbal interaction with patients, care providers, and visitors, requiring quick and accurate communication and responsiveness, especially in emergencies.
• Manual dexterity required for operating complex equipment, frequent computer usage, and documentation.
• Expected to lift and utilize a full range of motion to assist with patient transfers; must be able to bend, lift, and carry varied weights.
• May need to assist with patient ambulation and transport, maneuvering equipment through crowded spaces.
• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36

The hourly pay range for this position is $18.40 - $23.92, with the final offered rate dependent on experience.
