Hematologist/Oncologist

The Salisbury VA Health Care System is seeking a full-time Hematologist/Oncologist to provide outstanding care to our nation's Veterans. Practice Info

• The W.G. Hefner VAMC is a 484-bed medical center.

• Inpatient services are provided for acute medicine, cardiology, surgery, psychiatry, physical rehabilitation, subacute and extended care, neuropsychiatry services, psychiatric intensive care, and geropsychiatry.

• Primary and specialized outpatient services are provided at the medical center and outpatient clinics.

• The medical center is affiliated with Wake Forest University School of Medicine, with a focus on resident involvement in primary care, dermatology, rehabilitation, ophthalmology, and psychiatry.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation, clinical assessment, and treatment in Hematology and Oncology for inpatient and outpatient veterans.

• Manage acute and chronic health conditions, order/interpret labs and diagnostic studies, and coordinate referrals.

• Conduct patient follow-up, promote health and disease prevention, and educate patients, families, and staff.

• Stay informed about available clinical research and trials for veterans.

• Serve as acting section chief as needed.

• Guide and supervise advanced practice providers, medical students, and residents.

• Participate in committees, facility improvement programs, and ensure high-quality customer service.

• Manage leave, staff selection, promotions, and adapt work schedules as needed as a supervisor.

Compensation

• Salary Range: $300,000 to $400,000 / Year

Shift & Schedule

• Full Time

• Four-day work week within the Monday-Friday timeframe.

• Specific daily hours may be negotiated at the time of appointment.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship, with non-citizens considered only when qualified citizens cannot be recruited.

• Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent in allopathic or osteopathic medicine.

• Unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

• Completion of an accredited residency program in a core specialty.

• Board-certified or board-eligible in Hematology Oncology.

• Preferred Experience: ABIM board certification in Hematology and Medical Oncology Or dual-board eligibility following fellowship training in adult Hematology & Oncology.
