Director, Brain Tumor Center

The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Colorado Anschutz is seeking a medical neuro-oncologist at the Associate Professor or Professor level to serve as the director of our newly minted Brain Tumor Center. This full-time faculty position encompasses clinical, teaching, research, and service responsibilities while working closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide state-of-the-art patient care. The successful candidate will lead and build multidisciplinary teams, prioritize patient care, advance center-level research, and support trainee education.

• The Neuro-Oncology program at the University of Colorado is the regional tertiary referral base for the Rocky Mountain Region, serving a six-state region of Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.

• The University of Colorado Cancer Center is an NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and a National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Member Institution.

• Work is located onsite in Aurora, Colorado.

• Neuro-Oncology patients are additionally supported by the availability of dietician, social work, physical medicine, and neuropsychological services.

Responsibilities

• Acute and chronic outpatient care of Neuro-Oncology patients including administration of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, disease-modifying therapy, and health maintenance care.

• Monitor patients for adverse events related to therapeutics.

• Participation in clinical trials with expectation of completing and maintaining research trainings.

• Inpatient consultations for acute or chronic Neuro-Oncology patients in the University of Colorado Hospital with attendant documentation for these consults.

• Supervise medical students, residents, and fellows in clinics and in the hospital setting.

• Provide supervision and training for advanced practice providers.

• Serve as first director of the Brain Tumor Center.

• Provide operational and financial oversight for the Division of Neuro-Oncology clinical and research activities.

Compensation

• Associate Professor hiring range: $350,000 to $375,000

• Professor hiring range: $380,000 to $405,000

• Quarterly Incentives will be provided as part of a two year guarantee for the faculty position

• Division Head, Neuro-Oncology: $225,000

Requirements

• MD or PhD

• Completed fellowship training in Neuro-Oncology or documented longstanding care

• Neuro-oncology Board Certified or eligible

• A record of ongoing research or clinical trial activity and funding

• Active State of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on or before hire date

• Applicants must have a scholarly and academic record consistent with appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level in the School of Medicine

• Previous leadership role held with experience in Neuro-Oncology (Preferred)
