We are seeking a highly motivated and patient-focused Oncology Pharmacist to join a growing healthcare team in Hinsdale, Illinois. This individual will play a vital role in providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care for oncology patients while collaborating closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
This is a full-time position, primarily based at our Hinsdale clinic; however, the selected candidate will be required to travel to other clinic locations throughout the week as needed.
The ideal candidate will have strong clinical knowledge of oncology therapies, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
• Review, verify, and oversee the preparation and dispensing of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and supportive care medications.
• Evaluate medication orders for accuracy, dosing appropriateness, drug interactions, allergies, and protocol compliance.
• Collaborate with oncology providers to optimize treatment plans and supportive care strategies.
• Monitor patient responses to therapy and recommend interventions when necessary.
• Educate patients and caregivers regarding treatment regimens, medication administration, side effects, and adherence.
• Participate in multidisciplinary oncology care discussions and treatment planning meetings.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, pharmacy standards, and organizational policies.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Assist with medication access programs, prior authorizations, and reimbursement-related processes.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and promote medication safety throughout the oncology service line.
• Stay current with emerging oncology therapies, treatment guidelines, and evidence-based practices.
Qualifications
• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
• Active Illinois Pharmacist license or eligibility for licensure.
• Previous oncology pharmacy experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and supportive oncology care.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Experience with EMR systems and clinical pharmacy workflows preferred.
• BCOP (Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist) certification is a plus.
