Shift Schedule Monday Friday
- Training: 6:00 AM 2:30 PM for the first month
- After Training: 9:00 AM 5:30 PM, following manager discussion and confirmation
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Calibration Test Technician to support the manufacturing, calibration, testing, and shipment of Beckman Echo systems at our San Jose, CA facility. This hands-on role is ideal for a technician with experience using
data to calibrate manufacturing equipment and the judgment to evaluate results and make sound technical decisions.
The successful candidate will be comfortable troubleshooting equipment, following established procedures, interpreting test data, and contributing to manufacturing process improvements. This is a practical, team-oriented position where attention to detail, analytical thinking, and initiative are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Calibrate, test, and prepare Beckman Echo systems for shipment according to established procedures.
- Collect, review, and interpret test and calibration data to determine whether equipment meets required specifications.
- Use data and technical judgment to make calibration and testing decisions.
- Perform first-line troubleshooting to diagnose equipment and hardware issues.
- Identify abnormal test results and determine appropriate next steps based on established procedures and available data.
- Document calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and shipment activities accurately.
- Follow verbal and written work instructions, standard operating procedures, and quality requirements.
- Support production schedules while maintaining accuracy and product quality.
- Participate in group problem-solving activities to address recurring manufacturing or equipment issues.
- Contribute ideas and recommendations for process improvement and manufacturing efficiency.
- Communicate technical findings and equipment issues clearly with supervisors and team members.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized manufacturing work area.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree required in a technical discipline such as:
- Computer Engineering/Technology
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering/Technology
- Life Sciences
- Related technical field
- 3 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing equipment, hardware calibration, machine testing, or a related technical environment.
- Hands-on experience using data to calibrate manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to analyze test/calibration data and make decisions using sound technical judgment.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic understanding of statistical methods, techniques, formulas, and tests.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and identify potential problems.
- Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proactive approach with the initiative to ask questions and investigate issues.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.
Note: Candidates with a Master's degree may be considered overqualified for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with calibration and automation equipment.
- Experience working with laboratory or manufacturing systems such as:
- Centrifuges
- Plate readers
- Automated laboratory equipment
- Familiarity with chemistry and liquid-handling equipment.
- Experience with equipment from manufacturers such as Beckman, Agilent, or Hamilton.
- Experience performing equipment testing, qualification, verification, or validation.
- Experience working in medical device, life sciences, laboratory automation, or regulated manufacturing environments.
