Job Title: Biology Contractor (contract-to-hire)
Work Location: Cambridge, MA
Summary:
Seeking a motivated biologist with expertise in cell-based screening assays to support drug discovery efforts targeting cancer and other diseases. This long-term contract role involves characterizing cellular activities of peptides and contributing to the development of innovative drug modalities. The ideal candidate is passionate, energetic, and experienced in molecular biology and cell-based assays, thriving in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute cell-based screening assays to assess activity and mechanisms in various 2D and 3D cell models.
- Utilize techniques such as CETSA, AlphaLISA, HTRF, HiBiT, cell proliferation, qPCR, ELISA/MSD, Co-IP, and western blot for experimental work.
- Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures, data analysis, and results presentation to project teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address program needs and advance project goals.
- Optimize and troubleshoot high-throughput cellular assays to ensure data quality and reproducibility.
- Apply advanced mammalian cell culture techniques, including work with cancer cell lines, primary cells, and 3D organoid cultures.
- Ensure meticulous documentation in laboratory notebooks and timely sharing of experimental data.
- Demonstrate adaptability and initiative while working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in cell biology, biochemistry, or related field with 6+ years of industry experience, or M.S. with 4+ years of industry experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical settings.
- Hands-on experience in high-throughput cellular assay development, optimization, and quantitative data analysis.
- Expertise in advanced mammalian cell culture, including cancer cell lines, primary cells, and 3D organoid models.
- Strong troubleshooting and experimental optimization skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in laboratory documentation and data management.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
