Job Summary
The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics is searching for a board‑certified (or eligible) pediatrician or pediatric hematologist/oncologist to join our collaborative, patient‑focused team with nationally recognized quality and outcomes as a nocturnist.

Ideal Candidates
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics
• Fellowship in hematology/oncology preferred, not required
• Committed to MUSC’s educational, research, and teaching missions
About our opportunity
• Work at MUSC’s Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, a 250‑bed, state‑of‑the‑art facility in downtown Charleston, repeatedly ranked as the #1 city in the US.
• Provide in house overnight coverage for a 16‑bed step down unit with a vibrant patient population of hematology, oncology, sickle cell, stem cell transplant, and CAR‑T patients as well as support overnight patient and family phone calls for this same patient population.
• Scheduling anticipated to be 14 overnight shifts in a 28‑day cycle
• Join a collaborative and intellectually stimulating team of 9 faculty members and 1 PsychD
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform job functions in an upright position. Ability to perform job functions in a seated position. Ability to perform job functions while walking/mobile. Ability to work indoors. Ability to work outdoors in all weather and temperature extremes. Ability to work in confined/cramped spaces. Ability to perform job functions from kneeling positions. Ability to squat and perform job functions. Ability to perform ‘pinching’ operations.
Ability to fully use both hands/arms. Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders. Ability to reach in all directions. Possess good finger dexterity. Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions. Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs., unassisted. Ability to lift objects, up to 15 lbs., from floor level to height of 36 inches, unassisted. Ability to lower objects, up to 15 lbs.,
from height of 36 inches to floor level, unassisted. Ability to push/pull objects, up to 15 lbs., unassisted. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. Ability to see and recognize objects close lity to see and recognize objects at a distance. Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. Good peripheral vision capabilities. Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
