Job Summary
Radiation Therapist Location: unspecified. This role involves delivering therapeutic radiation in accordance with the prescribed treatment plans established by the Radiation Oncologist. The Radiation Therapist will ensure accurate dose delivery, interpret port-images, prepare treatment rooms and equipment, and maintain detailed treatment records in a clinical setting.

Job Details
• Certifications, Education Requirements, Degree Requirements, Location Requirements, and Years of Experience: Graduate of AMA approved school in radiation therapy; 1 year experience in clinical therapeutic radiation therapy; minimum experience requirement: 0 years; Schedule: 8:00 am 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with 11.5 hours shifts and a minimum of 34.5 hours per week.
• Administers radiation treatments and performs accurate patient setup, dose calculations, and port-image interpretation.
• Performs daily quality assurance and safety checks on treatment machines and simulators, and records data accordingly.
• Verifies and localizes treatment areas using radiographic film or electronic mediums; submits films for further review and approval by the Radiation Oncologist.
• Maintains organized treatment rooms, stocks supplies, and assists in creating immobilization devices during simulator rotations.
• Ensures patient comfort and understanding by explaining procedures, answering questions, and reassuring patients, while maintaining professional communication throughout treatment.
• Detects treatment unit malfunctions, reports issues to senior staff, and adheres to safety protocols.
• Provides instruction to student radiation therapists and assists in clinical evaluations.
• Attends chart rounds, displays films, and participates in discussions regarding patient treatment.
