Job Title: Travel Radiation Therapist
Department: Oncology
Location: Watertown, New York
Assignment Length: 13 Week
Shift: Days (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
Schedule: 5 x 8-hour shifts (40 hours/week)

Job Summary
Facility is seeking an experienced Travel Radiation Therapist to join its Oncology Department. The Radiation Therapist is responsible for delivering prescribed radiation treatments to oncology patients while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and treatment accuracy. Working collaboratively with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and the oncology care team, the therapist operates advanced radiation therapy equipment and follows established treatment protocols to provide high-quality, compassionate patient care.
The ideal candidate will have recent radiation therapy experience, strong technical knowledge of radiation treatment equipment, and experience working in an acute care or hospital-based oncology setting.
Key Responsibilities
• Administer prescribed external beam radiation therapy treatments accurately and safely.
• Verify patient identity, treatment setup, and prescribed treatment parameters before each session.
• Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment, including Varian TrueBeam and Varian IX linear accelerators.
• Utilize ARIA oncology information system for treatment documentation and patient record management.
• Position and immobilize patients accurately to ensure precise treatment delivery.
• Monitor patients throughout treatment and respond appropriately to any adverse reactions or emergencies.
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, medical physicists, and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient care.
• Review treatment plans and verify treatment fields according to physician prescriptions.
• Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic oncology record system.
• Educate patients and families regarding radiation therapy procedures and expected side effects.
• Follow radiation safety guidelines, infection prevention standards, and departmental policies.
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum 1 year of recent Radiation Therapy experience.
• Active New York State Radiation Therapist License (License must be in hand prior to submission).
• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology or accredited Radiation Therapy program.
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, radiation oncology procedures, and medical terminology.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience using:

• ARIA Oncology Information System
• Previous hospital-based or acute care oncology experience.

The ideal candidate is a licensed Radiation Therapist with recent oncology experience and proficiency in delivering radiation treatments using Varian TrueBeam, Varian IX, and ARIA software. The candidate should demonstrate excellent technical skills, attention to detail, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to providing safe, compassionate, patient-centered cancer care while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary oncology team.
Pay: $3,520.00 per week
