Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Oncology

Location: Freehold, NJ
Start Date: 11/03/2026
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
Weekend: Every other weekend
Patient Ratio: 1:6
Charting: Epic

Responsibilities
• Provide nursing care to adult medical-surgical oncology and telemetry patients.
• Care for patients receiving chemotherapy and those with current or previous cancer diagnoses.
• Provide care for inpatient hospice patients requiring general inpatient services.
• Administer IV medications, infusions, blood products, and hydration.
• Manage ports, PICC lines, central lines, and peripheral IVs.
• Monitor patients for chemotherapy-related complications, sepsis, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, and tumor lysis syndrome.
• Maintain neutropenic and other required isolation precautions.
• Perform cardiac monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias.
• Provide pain and symptom management, including nausea, vomiting, neuropathy, and other treatment-related symptoms.
• Assist with post-surgical care, wound care, chest tubes, Foley catheters, and ostomy management.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment, medications, disease management, and care plans.
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care.
• Float to other medical-surgical/telemetry units as needed.
Requirements
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
• Active NJ or Compact RN license at submission.
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required.
• Epic experience required.
• Oncology/chemotherapy experience strongly preferred.
• ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Provider certification preferred.
• Must be willing to work every other weekend and required holidays.
• Flu vaccination required; approved medical/religious exemptions accepted with masking requirements.
