Required Qualifications One year of recent experience as a Cytotechnologist Valid license when needed in compliance with any state regulations Must demonstrate proficiency in microscopic examination of cytology specimens Preferred Qualifications Active CT (ASCP) certification required (or equivalent, such as AMT, AAB, HEW) Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC) Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position Summary A Cytotechnologist is a specialized laboratory professional responsible for examining cell samples under a microscope to detect cancer, infections, or other diseases. Working primarily in pathology and diagnostic laboratories, they analyze specimens from various body sites, including the cervix, lungs, and body fluids, to identify cellular abnormalities. Cytotechnologists play a crucial role in early disease detection and collaborate closely with pathologists to ensure accurate diagnoses and optimal patient care.
Essential Work Functions
