Job Description
The University of Alabama Birmingham, Heersink School of Medicine, Department of Surgery, is seeking a fellowship-trained surgical oncologist for an Open Rank faculty position in the Division of Surgical Oncology. This role focuses on treating skin and soft tissue malignancies, including melanoma and sarcoma, within a collaborative multidisciplinary cancer care environment. The successful candidate will contribute to the institution's tripartite mission encompassing clinical care, research, and education.
Practice Info
• Division of Surgical Oncology is committed to providing personalized, comprehensive care for patients with a broad array of benign and malignant tumors.
• Work in collaboration with members from other divisions in the Department of Surgery, along with the Department of Radiation Oncology, Division of Hematology/Oncology, the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Department of Genetics and the Department of Dermatology to provide high-quality, innovative, and comprehensive multidisciplinary cancer care.
• The Department of Surgery is comprised of over 150 faculty and over 400 fellows, residents and staff, and has 9 divisions including Surgical Oncology.
• Clinical programs are housed at the University Hospital which is the 3rd largest public hospital in the US.
Responsibilities
• Provide clinical focus in the treatment of skin and soft tissue malignancies including melanoma and sarcoma.
• Contribute to the tripartite mission of the institution including clinical, research and education needs of the division.
• Report to the Division Director of Surgical Oncology and the Department Chair.

Requirements
• Hold an M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or Ph.D.
• Be an outstanding leader and highly skilled, widely recognized in the field with a strong track record.
• Have substantial professional work experience in one or more areas of research, teaching and/or service.
• Fellowship-trained surgical oncologist.
• No visa sponsorship available.
