Job Description

VCU Health is seeking an early- to mid-career Surgical Oncologist - Endocrine Surgeon to join its Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology. This collateral, non-tenure track faculty position involves developing a robust clinical practice at the VCU Medical Center and community satellite locations. The role also includes significant teaching responsibilities for residents, fellows, and medical students, alongside active participation in clinical and/or basic science research.

• The Division of Surgical Oncology aims to provide advanced, patient-oriented, cost-effective, and safe surgical oncology services.

• The division is committed to enhancing diversity among its faculty, staff, and students.

• The position is open rank, early- to mid-career collateral, non-tenure track faculty.

• The faculty member will support the division’s expanding efforts to provide excellent oncology surgical support to regional outreach programs, including Massey Cancer Center.

Responsibilities

• Develop a robust clinical practice at the VCU Medical Center and community satellite locations.

• Provide teaching in surgical oncology with an emphasis on endocrine surgery.

• Participate in clinical and/or basic science research relevant to the expanding field of endocrine surgery.

• Develop interdisciplinary collaborations within VCU’s Massey Cancer Center, Medical Oncology, and Radiation Oncology.

• Serve on University, Health System, and departmental committees as requested by leadership.

• Assist with the recruitment, training, and placement of residents and fellows.

• Provide clinical care for surgical oncology patients on the MCV campus of VCU Health System and community outreach satellite location(s).

• Be responsible for the development of an active surgical practice.

Requirements

• Board certification or eligibility in general surgery

• Advanced training fellowship in endocrine surgery

• Commitment to outcomes, clinical and/or basic science research

• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

• Record of publication in refereed journals or presentations at national meetings is expected.

• Preferred: Record of external funding or proposal submissions to obtain funding
