Social Worker Position Summary
The primary function of the oncology social worker is to provide psychosocial support to patients and their families receiving treatment in the Peninsula Cancer Center. The position coordinates referrals for supportive care, working collaboratively across all departments, disciplines and providers. The ability to mentor and supervise in terms distinguishes this position from the undergraduate social worker.
Social Worker Position Requirements
Education
• Maryland State Social Work license, at the Licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical (LCSW-C) level.
• Graduate of a Master’s degree program in social work from a college or university approved by the Council of Social Work.
• Oncology Social Work Certification (OSW-C) preferred
Experience
• Minimum of 3–5 years previous experience in social work or related capacity preferably in medical/health setting.
• Minimum of 3 years experience working with oncology patients in either an acute care setting, outpatient setting or support group setting.
Social Worker Work Schedule
• Day shift Monday-Friday, Evening and weekend work as assigned.
