Job Title: Senior Scientist, Textile Formulation & Applications

Location: Indianapolis with Travel to Partner Mills, Application Labs, and Toll Formulators
Position Overview
MN8 Bioceramics is seeking an experienced Ph.D.-level scientist or engineer to lead the formulation, application, and industrial scaling of bioceramic technology for performance apparel and commercial textiles. This role bridges materials science and formulation chemistry with industrial textile finishing and manufacturing.
Core Responsibilities
• Formulate and scale aqueous binder and finishing systems containing functional inorganic and bioceramic micro/nanoparticles.
• Lead commercial finishing trials, including pad-dry-cure, screen printing, and spray application.
• Work with textile chemical suppliers, toll formulators, and partner mills to optimize formulations, dispersion stability, rheology, and processing conditions.
• Establish and execute textile testing protocols based on AATCC and ISO standards.
• Conduct on-site troubleshooting, process optimization, and scale-up at partner facilities.
Required Qualifications
• Ph.D. in Textile Chemistry, Textile Science, Textile Engineering, Fiber Science, Polymer Science/Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in textile finishing, textile chemical suppliers, or industrial application laboratories.
• Experience with binder/particle dispersion chemistry, crosslinkers, wetting agents, and textile finishing processes.
• Experience with AATCC/ISO textile testing and commercial-scale textile processing.
• Willingness to travel to domestic and international partner facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with masterbatch compounding, filament extrusion, or melt spinning of functional fibers.
• Expertise in rheological control and stabilization of particulate suspensions.
• Experience working with major textile chemical suppliers and commercial finishing mills.
