Our client in the Food and Beverage industry is hiring a Senior Quality Assurance Manager!
Position Summary
The Senior Quality Manager leads quality systems across the entire supply chain, from raw material suppliers and co-manufacturers to distributors and the end consumer. This role owns the external audit program, consumer complaint management system, and supplier qualification standards, ensuring products meet specifications and regulatory requirements under 21 CFR Part 111. This is a build-focused role, responsible for establishing scalable quality systems and processes rather than simply maintaining existing ones.
Key Responsibilities
- Co-Manufacturer Auditing: Develop and execute risk-based audits; assess GMP compliance, sanitation, documentation, and batch records; issue reports, track CAPA, verify closure, and maintain audit readiness for internal facilities, including the R&D lab.
- Consumer Complaint Management: Build and own the end-to-end complaint system; establish triage and escalation workflows; lead root-cause investigations and CAPA; analyze trends to identify systemic issues and inform formulation, process, and labeling decisions; manage serious adverse event reporting.
- Supplier Qualification: Manage qualification and approval for raw materials, excipients, and packaging; review Certificates of Analysis, specifications, and identity testing requirements, including botanical extracts under 21 CFR Part 111; conduct risk assessments, maintain the Approved Supplier List, and oversee supplier changes, requalification, and performance.
- Quality Systems & Compliance: Maintain and improve the QMS, including SOPs, specifications, batch records, deviation and change control; ensure compliance with 21 CFR Part 111 and dietary supplement regulations; partner with Product Development on specifications, stability, and release testing.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (chemistry, food science, microbiology, or related); advanced degree a plus.
- 5-7+ years in quality roles within dietary supplements, food, pharmaceutical, or consumer products, with 1-3+ years in a leadership or management capacity a plus.
- Experience building or running audit programs and supplier qualification systems.
- Working knowledge of 21 CFR Part 111, GMP, CAPA, complaint-handling requirements.
- Experience standing up complaint management or quality tracking systems.
- Strong investigation and root-cause analysis skills.
Preferred
- Experience with oral pouch, buccal, or similar delivery formats.
- Quality certifications (CQA, CQM, ASQ, or equivalent).
